The US State Department has launched a campaign for the release of the Ukrainian citizen Nadiya Savchenko, who in Russia is accused of involvement in a journalist's death. Savchenko was included in a list of 20 women, who Washington seeks to get released.
Nadiya Savchenko is not the first, who the United States tries to liberate. For this type of requirement it is not necessary for the involved persons to be Americans or to have anything to do with the United States. So far, the cases where the United States really has sought the release of people, most of them have been US citizens.
At a time, US sought release of the former Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko, who served a sentence in a Ukrainian prison for abuse of power in connection with the gas agreements with Russia.
Besides the Americans the European Parliament, British and Dutch diplomats also requires release of Nadiya Savchenko.
