The Christian feast Candlemas is celebrated by the Ukrainians on 15 February.

According to the Law of Ukraine, in cases where a public holiday falls on the weekend (Saturday or Sunday), the weekend is extended by one day.

Red marks the official holidays wich are days off.

Brown marks the official holidays which are working days.

Green marks the celebrations, which change date.

15 February

Candlemas (Sritennia Hospodne, Ukr.).

• Publication of the first complete works of the Ukrainian writer Ivan Kotlyarevsky (1952).

• Abandonment of the Izmail region in Ukraine. The area became part of the Odessa region (1954).

• First International Festival «Pokut» (folk culture festival) took place in Kharkiv (1996).

Day of Honoring Combatants in the Territory of Other States (since 2004). This day is dedicated anniversary of withdrawal of Soviet troops from Afghanistan.

• International Childhood Cancer Day (in Ukraine since 2003).
